The Experience

Inkcarceration is hosted at the old Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. There's three stages set on the old prison grounds. A tattoo contest is held inside of the old prison during the festival. All ticket levels have access to the prison for self-guided tours. The Shawshank Redemption was filmed at the Ohio State Reformatory and festival goers can see different rooms featured in the movie and learn about the history of the prison itself. You can also get tattooed during the festival - although walk up spots are limited.

What do the different ticket levels mean? The general admission tickets get you access to the pit areas at all stages, grassy areas to sit down, the prison tour, and tattoo area. The VIP tickets get you access to the GA area and the VIP area with seating, an air conditioned lounge, and more ammenities.

Must have tips for Inkcarceration? If you want to get tattooed at Inkcarceration you'll want to reach out to the tattoo artist of your choice well in advance. Their spots can fill up quickly and many do not offer walk ups. There is a tattoo contest during the festival so many artists will prioritize pieces for each category. Shade and seating is limited so make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen. The prison tour is self-guided, but if you really want to take your time and see everything it can take awhile to get through the whole prison. Plan ahead so you don't miss any of your must see artists.
