What Can You Bring?

The campgrounds has different requirements on what can and cannot be brought into the camping area.

In the festival itself: Sunscreen has to be non-aerosol. You can bring in a factory sealed bottle of water (20 oz max) or an empty refillable water bottle. Hydroflasks and yetis aren't allowed (think no hard containers). You can bring towels to sit on. You cannot bring chairs into this festival, there are bleachers for seats around the main stage.

Festival Approved Bags

The campgrounds has different requirements for bags than the actual festival. In the campgrounds you are permitted to have larger bags and they do not need to be clear.

In the festival itself: Clear backpacks can be brought in as long as they are 12" x 6" x 12" or smaller. You can also bring in clear drawstring bags that are 16" x 13" or smaller. Clear totes can be brought in that are 12" x 6" x 12" or smaller. They allow small fanny packs and other small bags and purses. Mesh bags, cooler bags, and hydration packs are not permitted. Check out the bags that meet their guidelines below.

The Experience

Sonic Temple is held in Columbus, OH at the Historic Crew Stadium. 2023 is the first year the festival will span four days. The festival is centered around amazing music and art with art installations throughout the festival grounds.

The campgrounds are located at the Historic Crew Stadium outside of the area the music festival is held. With the camping package you can freely leave the festival to go back to the campgrounds and are allowed re-entry. The campgrounds have shower facilities.

What do the different ticket levels mean? The festival has a few areas that are accessible based on ticket level. The main stage is located inside of the stadium and those with either Field or Field VIP passes can get onto the floor for the main stage. Stadium and Stadium VIP tickets can get into the stadium seating areas to watch the main stage. All levels of tickets can access the stadium seating area and the floor for the two side stages. The VIP area is reserved for the Stadium VIP and Field VIP ticket holders.

Must have tips for Sonic Temple? You're permitted to bring in a sealed waterbottle or empty water bottle. We recommend bringing one in with you so you can get free water at the various fountains throughout the stadium. The stands can fill up early in the day so if you plan on having a seat in the stadium you may want to claim your spot early. We've never had a problem finding a spot later in the day when we want to take a rest, but you'll be sitting a little further away from the stage. The seats are not covered so you will want to make sure you bring sunscreen and a poncho in the event it rains. Worried about having to carry things throughout the festival? You can bring in a bag and there's also lockers for rent. You can rent a locker before the festival on the Sonic Temple website.

History

Share information about your brand with your customers. Describe a product, make announcements, or welcome customers to your store. In 2007 a rock festival called Rock on the Range premiered in Columbus, OH. Later the partnership that put on Rock on the Range dissolved and DWP (Danny Wimmer Presents) who was part of that partnership created a new festival - Sonic Temple. We now have art on top of amazing music and food!

Rock on the Range saw the return of Stone Temple Pilots in 2008 and expanded into two days. Eventually Rock on the Range grew to three days. 2018 was the last weekend for Rock on the Range.

In 2019 DWP premiered Sonic Temple, adding art and revamping the food selection. The first Sonic Temple drew 120,000 people over the three day festival. When COVID hit in 2020 Sonic Temple went on hiatus which was extended while the Crew Stadium was remodeled. In 2022 Sonic Temple's return was announced for 2023. Coming back as a four day festival and would include the return of the Foo Fighters after the passing of their drummer Taylor Hawkins.
